How Much Child Care Subsidy Can You Get?

Your estimated annual family income is an important factor in determining your standard CCS percentage. For the 2026–27 financial year, eligible families with an estimated income of $88,520 or less can receive a standard CCS rate of up to 90%. Above this amount, the standard subsidy percentage gradually decreases as family income increases.

Other factors can also influence the amount of assistance available to your family. For example, families with more than one eligible child aged five or under in care may receive a higher CCS rate for younger eligible children, depending on their circumstances. This means your income alone does not determine your final childcare costs.

Understanding the 3 Day Guarantee

The Child Care Subsidy system changed from 5 January 2026, when the previous activity test was replaced by the 3 Day Guarantee. Eligible families can now receive at least 72 hours of subsidised childcare per fortnight, regardless of how much recognised participation they have. Some families may be eligible for up to 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, depending on their circumstances and recognised participation.
